The morning mist smelled clean and refreshing. With my "to do" list scrolling in the back of my head, I barely noticed the morning as I rushed through the watering, nipping, and tidying of my flowers and plants. Sometimes I wonder...
Is it worth the trouble to have flower beds and hanging pots?
They are always changing, always needing maintenance and never the same two days in a row...
Between drought conditions, snacking rabbits, mysterious diseases, aggravating bugs that can strip a frond overnight, and sometimes just a brown thumb, plants can be a headache.
But...
While standing at the kitchen window, I can look outside and see hummingbirds and butterflies going about their daily motions...
I stroll around the yard after a quick summer shower and notice colors bursting with so much glory that it is evidence enough that man did not create them...
A granddaughter comes to visit and looks for inchworms in the marigolds and chases after butterflies with a child's innocence and laughter...
Flowers are so worth the trouble...
There is another Flower
The most beautiful
Forever blooming
Never fading
Always the same
Never Changing...
This Flower believed I was worth the trouble to tend to all these years, and water, and watch grow...
There were times when diseases struck,
And when I refused to be watered,
And bugs came and ate away at my foliage...
Stripping away everything that had started to bloom...
But the Master Gardener and His Perfect Rose
Faithfully and patiently looked after me...
Always caring...
Never giving up...
I am so thankful for the Unchanging Rose of Sharon and how I can be a part of His garden...brown thumb and all...

The beauty of flowers are definitely so worth the effort. What a joy that God has blessed us with.
And yes His unchangeableness is as beautiful! How secure that it makes me feel.
That is beautiful.
Karen,
First, I just sat and looked at the picture appreciating the beauty of the message and then I read your post. What a beautiful analogy! I'll be praying for you:) Blessings! Amanda
Karen, this is just so beautiful! How you are ministering to me through your blogs. AND...you hit me dead center with NO LEFT TURN....been around a few blocks in my lifetime, too. Takes us awhile sometimes to learn. Thank you for allowing God to speak through you to touch so many lives with these words of wisdom and knowledge... Love you
You know, that is so true..... I wonder sometimes why in the world I spend so much time working in the yard..... BUT then on a cool evening after a short slow rain and everything is green and the flowers just seem to be brighter, it is soooo worth it..... And those little hummers are just a joy to the eyes............ God is so creative!
Karen I love how you saw US in that picture of the flowers! The disease, the drought, the bugs...and the life! the LIFE!
This was encouraging!!!
This is the worst year I have had for growing things...even my violets are not blooming as much!
Squash plants resulted in only 2 defective looking squash....
BUT at least I can still get them at the produce market!
Love you girl!
This was just beautiful! Thank God He takes the trouble with us!
I would love to see pictures of your garden!
Karen,
This is absolutely SPECIAL! Very encouraging dear friend.
GOD is beautiful. GOD is good.
I love flowers but cannot take the time they need. Am so glad we have an unchanging God.
