Cracking the Nut...

Isn’t it amazing what you can find online?

Need to buy something?

It’s on there...from Argyle socks to Zoo tickets...

Need to do research?

That’s covered too...from Algebra shortcuts to Zinnia care and feeding...

Want to find someone?

You probably can...from any number of social networking sites to people searches to...well, whatever you want to enter into your preferred search engine...

When we got our first PC...waaaay back in 1995...my husband was proud, the kids were thrilled, and I was skeptical...

We don’t need it...I’ll never use it...what a waste of money...it will just be used for games...or a way for Big Brother to know our business...”

Well, fast forward several years and it was the norm to try every new thing “online”...and now, I can’t imagine not having a PC around for playing, working, and finding out just about anything.

The thing that has totally blown me away, is that you can PRAY online, be BLESSED online, and BE A BLESSING!

One posted prayer request can be sent around the world in seconds...faster even than your church’s prayer chain phone line.

Facing troubles or heartaches? There is nothing new under the sun. The Lord can lead you to a member of the body of Christ that is going through the same thing.

Feel impressed to share something from your heart and think no one else is reading it? Think again...that troubled soul that might not reach out to the person sitting on the pew next to them, may just need to hear what you have to say.

That cynical person that says “I don’t need God”, and runs the other way if you try to approach them, just may be lead stumble upon something online that you think no one cares to read about, but God knows the very person that does need it.

So in its proper place, social networking can be enjoyable, intriguing, stress relieving, spirit reviving, and inspirational. On the other hand, we know the old saying about too much of a good thing...or if any thing or activity starts taking time away from our family...and most importantly, our God...this innocent tool can turn from good into not so good in an instant.

I don’t want that to happen.

I LOVE blogging and find Facebook interesting, but sometimes the urgent need I feel to write something particular for this meme on a certain day or that topic at a certain time, conflicts with waiting on the Lord to impress my heart with what HE wants me to share.

There is a notebook on my nightstand that has scriptures listed, images described, and impressions penned. They were each placed in my heart...some for specific times and people...and some are just waiting for the “right” moment to be shared. I believe some of these are just “for me” to return to at different seasons in my life...while others are waiting for the Lord’s timetable in someone else’s life.

So, the past few weeks, the Lord and I have been talking about some of the simple things in life...you know...those simple things that are really the big things...the important things...the things that sometimes get pushed aside during the busyness of life...

Like playing pretend instead of just pretending to play

Like giving undivided attention instead of divided glances

Like enjoying doing “nothing” with your husband instead of not doing “anything”

Confused yet...or do you get my drift? I promise it will make sense in the end...

More to come...with pictures....

It is so true how the net has changed us all. Good and bad but I like the good, of getting back in touch with old friends.

Blessings Karen...oh yeah...the simple things in life!!! The difference the internet makes in our connections. I was with ya' all the way until the "drift" part or the nut cracking ending...I'll be waiting for the rest from this cliff hanger, which will have to be put aside for TSMSS! Looking forward to where you take this...thanks again for your visit so I know to check Hallelujah out!

I enjoyed this post. Your nightstand book sounds like an interesting endeavor. I have a journal next to my bed too...it's a mixture of spiritual thoughts, and reality day to day reports.

Tomorrow I have to call a relative and wish him a happy birthday. I was dreading it, actually...as we don't have a lot in common. Now, after reading your post, I want to say something that will really make him feel special. That's one of the important things in my day.
