Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Leaning

Do you like to learn new things?

If you are like me, it sometimes depends on the “thing”...

A new song, a new game, a new recipe, or a new computer program...these I would enjoy...

There is a beautiful old hymn that says:

Learning to lean
Learning to lean,
I'm learning to lean on Jesus...

We don’t automatically know how to lean on the Lord...I am we are somewhat stubborn at times, and tend to think we can handle “things” on our own...

This surrender of our will and placing complete trust in God is something that has to be learned...through trials...and sometimes heartaches...

But, oh...the outcome of the lesson...

Peace so great it is impossible to understand...

Joy so full it can not be contained...

THOSE WHO trust in, lean on, and confidently hope in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides and stands fast forever.

Psalm 125:1 AMP

The lyrics that are being shared today are from another song that talks about leaning on the Lord. It's been many years since I last heard it sung, but my mind has been playing it for several weeks.

Lean On Me

by Gary Mathena

When no one cared about me if I should live or die,
and no one bothered asking why I'd go alone and cry.
When burdens got so heavy that I could not face the day,
then I'd feel His arms around me and I'd hear Him gently say,

Chorus
"Lean on Me when you have no strength to stand.
When you feel you're goin' under, hold tighter to my hand.
Lean on me when your heart begins to bleed
when you come to the place that I'm all you have,
then you'll find I'm all you need.

When the road ahead seems rugged and the path is getting steep,
I feel that I can’t make it and my heart begins to weep.
Then I turn to see who’s comin’ to join me in the way,
and I see that it’s my Savior and I hear Him gently say,

Chorus
"Lean on Me when you have no strength to stand.
When you feel you're goin' under, hold tighter to my hand.
Lean on me when your heart begins to bleed
when you come to the place that I'm all you have,
then you'll find I'm all you need.

Now hop over to see Amy and sing your heart out on Then Sings My Soul Saturday...

I haven't heard this one in a long time. I love the harmonies to this one. Actually, most hymns have nice harmonies.

Blessings.

Blessings Karen and thank you as I lean or as I learn to lean. These words are so touching!(yours) And the lyrics to this song especially the chorus move me beyond feeling loved...to knowing His love!

These are the words that first hit me besides the comfort of the chorus:

When burdens got so heavy that I could not face the day,
then I'd feel His arms around me and I'd hear Him gently say

Thanks Karen!

Karen,

I'm leaning so much on the Lord right now. I'm also learning so much about the process...painful, but He is so faithful.

Thank you for sharing.

Learning to lean...learning to lean...I'm learning to lean on Jesus....finding more power than I ever dreamed---I'm learning to lean---on Jesus.

Oh Karen...there is totally a reason you sent me here today!

I needed both songs! I am learning to lean on HIM and that more securely!

I have so much to share and say--but as supper is almost done..I've got to hold it back for another day!

I love you dearly my sweet friend! ONE day soon we will HUG! I just FEEL IT!!

(Do you know THAT song? I feel it...I feel it...I feel it...I feel it! There's something 'bout the power of the Holy Ghost--I can't explain it but I FEEL it---Yes I feel it!)

Karen, I'm learning too.

Will you help me spread the joy?

I invite you to come and get a bit joyful with me. There has been a serious lack of enjoying life in our home over the past few years. I'm busting out, and wanting you to join me, share your ideas, help me start something for others to join in.

Learnin' Livin' Lovin' life,
Sara

I love it...Learning to lean....that is an old red backed hymnal song..but its lyrics ring so true. It's harder to lean because we want to do it our own way sometimes......actually...most times. But God has a better plan!! Love this post!!!

Oh, your speaking to me. I want to be leaning but then I stop and see I am doing and not leaning. This is such a sweet good reminder to me. Thanks!!!

Love both of those songs...the old hymn the the lyrics to the other (completely new to me). Beautiful post my friend and so very true. If only we could keep at the forefront of our minds He is all we need...

Awesome post! Leaning on God is a skill that must be learned especially for those (like me) that think they have to do it all on their own. Thanks for sharing the song lyrics!
