I Bless Your Name - TSMSS

shackles

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose.

Acts 16:25-26 NIV

In prisoners' chains,
With bleeding stripes,
Paul and Silas prayed that night.
And in their pain
began to sing,
Their chains were loosed,
And they were free.

I bless Your Name;
I bless Your Name;
I give You honor, give You praise.
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way;
I bless Your Name;
I bless Your Name.

Some midnight hour,
If you should find,
You're in a prison in your mind.
Reach out and praise,
Defy those chains,
And they will fall,
In Jesus' Name!

We bless Your Name;
We bless Your Name;
We give You honor, give You praise.
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way;
We bless Your Name;
We bless Your Name.

You are the Life, the Truth, the Way;
We bless Your Name;
We bless Your Name.

Karen, I love the group Selah. Their voices together are so beautiful. This song is wonderful too. The words are so meaningful and I love that you posted the Scriptures about Paul and Silas praising God while in prison.

Blessings and love,

I love the story of Paul and Silas "around midnight"....that same premise was at work in my heart this morning. God has a way of doing that doesn't He?

My MIL gave me one of their CD's years ago and this song is on it. First time I had ever heard of them. I would listen to it over and over.
Then a couple of years ago when my oldest daughter started blogging she said you have got to go read this blog. This woman is pregnant and she knows without a miracle the baby won't survive once she is born. When I read it I connected the two together because it was Angie the wife of the lead singer of Selah. So amazing what the Lord has brought that group through.

Blessings Karen... SELAH... Power in PRAISE... great scripture & beautiful illustration! (Is it by Joseph, your nephew?)

I BLESS HIS NAME!!! watching as chains fall and prison doors open and captives set free in Jesus' Name & the power of His Spirit! Earthquakes can have that effect!
Look at Haiti! (don't know about Chile, Mexico, Turkey or SE Asia)

Praising God with Paul & Silas!
Is this off of Selah's new CD? I really love their songs. Their messages and words are so packed with meaning & encouragement in our faith!

((hugs))

Absolutely beautiful, Karen. "And in their pain began to sing." Ah, yes, in their pain. How difficult but how blessed.

Thank you for stopping by my little corner tonight. I was about to visit your page when your comment popped up for approval. Don't you just love how God weaves His tapestry. :)

You're a blessing to me.

I had never equated that story as a reminder to praise in my own troubles. I hope the next time things are dark, I can remember to praise!
