Today this post is linked with Lynn for Thankful Thursday.
I am thankful for memories.
In the corner of one of my rooms, there is a wall of memories...
Pictures of people so precious, that simply calling them “loved ones”...is not enough...
Some went on to glory many years ago, while others stepped over recently...
Memories
Too many to share here...
But ones that cause my heart to fill...my eyes to swim...and my hopes to soar...
You see
On the adjacent wall is my collage of hopes...
Framed tributes to each family member are included there with names, the meanings of those names, and a scripture...
My spouse, my children, my grandchildren...
My hopes...
The wall of memories recalls lifetimes of unwavering faith in God...humble attitudes towards others...and prayers for their families...
The wall of hopes is a symbol of God’s protection...prayers of intercession...and assurance of promises...
I love my walls...and the reminders they bring me day after day...
The same God that watched over my ancestors is watching over my descendants...
He is watching over me...
And the good memories...bring healing for any bad memories...
What’s on your wall of memories and hopes?

I love having a wall of memories! And yes how thankful we can be for them. In my previous house, I had all of my relative's photos on the wall. Your post reminds me to get going on this new place we are in now.
Have a wonderful thankful Thursday!
Blessings and love,
Debbie
What a wonderful post, Karen! I especially love the idea of framing family members' names and their meanings along with scripture.
Memories and hopes altogether, blessing God for all those He has blessed you with in your life - such a wonderful "Thank you" today!
Blessings to you, Karen,
Laurie
what a neat perspective! Did you have that in mind when you hung them that way?
Aaaah. Yes. Memories. They light the corners of my mind. Love this musing reflective post! Blessings!
"The same God that watched over my ancestors is watching over my descendants...He is watching over me..." I need to make this into a plaque read it every day. Thank you.
OOOoH! I love the idea of framing the names of my family with their meanings. What a powerful way to remember who God says that we are!
what a great idea... i love your post today!
Wow Karen...when I read the first line...thankful for memories...I cringed but as I read...I thought how awesome is that...memories for me are so painful...I've run from them...but from your perspective...they are so percious. Love that. Tons of blessings to you....
I have a corner of my home, in my sewing area, that I keep all my thoughts, good, and bad.. In this corner, not my prayer corner, but another one, I know I can bring whatever my heart needs to leave here, with the assurance that they will be left in Father's hands - as I lay them down in the basket sitting near my sewing machine. I know it sounds silly, but to use my favorite place in my home as a deposit is just what I need to lay every positive joy, or heavy burden down.. I was amazed at reading this post today from you - I do not feel so " odd " now, in knowing I have a place to keep memories, and such.
For me, my wall of memories is in my journal. It is there that I record everything God says to me, whether it be in a dream or vision, or through His Word. Whenever I feel down, I page through it and remember what He has done...
I love the concept of a wall of memories....
It got me thinking. :)
Blessings,
Tammy
What a fantastic idea to have a wall of hopes! Your dedication to Christ and your family are inspiring!!!
What a wonderful tribute to God and your family! Yes He will do it for your decendants too!
Great Thankful post!
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Karen,
I also am proud of my walls, and my pc desktop. My dad passed away January 2010, I have his picture with his great grandson (my great nephew) on my desktop. My descendants (my sons) artwork hang proudly on our walls. I decided years ago I would rather have their artwork rather than a famous work of art.
Memories are precious treasures.
Karen, great post. Interesting idea. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings Karen...ahh (sigh) memories and such a beautiful tribute to them, your family and your hopes! Such truly inspiring words and I admire that you can be thankful for memories. Each word was carefully and beautifully chosen or better yet anointed... there are too many favorite parts for me to choose one.
Builds HOPE! Assures us of God's plan and promises (at least in your family-lol) but I would hope that for each family. Sadly, it's not always that way. "...He is watching over me... And the good memories... bring healing for any bad memories..." I pray that happens in my memories... only I prefer not to have any 'walls'. I, too was browsing through photos of memories. Yep, healing... thanks Karen. You share wonderful, meaningful ideas and words! You are blessed by generations of faith! May this legacy live on!
Thankful & blessed,
Peggy
I've had a lot of time to reflect on my memories in recent days as I've begun the packing up process of our past six years...
How thankful I am for the legacy of faith I've been given and for the one I'm leaving. It means everything to me as I consider the worthiness of my "collected years" and what is most important as I sort/throw/keep/get rid of.
Faith... taken it with me; leaving most everything else behind!
Blessed weekend to you.

This makes me think of the phrase "Stones of Remembrance". I studied this concept when the children of Israel were instructed to build an altar of stones from when they crossed the Red Sea.
Your wall of memories is a great idea! (and especially the wall of hopes) Remembering what God has done and what He is going to do ...
Oh Karen,
Wonderful post and you are so right. All those good memories are a gift and they out weigh the bad.
I’m finally getting around to read your praises. Thank you for joining our TT and honoring our Lord. See you again this Thursday. Hugs, Lynn
