The Beauty of His Name – TSMSS

then_sings_my_soul

with Amy @ Sign, Miracles, and Wonders

In 1980, my first son was born. That same year, the song I am sharing today was written and recorded.

Being the only child at the time, my sweet baby enjoyed the luxury of being rocked to sleep...and many times with the accompaniment of a song...

Precious lullabies and cherished children’s choruses were included in this mother’s personal play-list, but there were also beloved hymns and uplifting worship songs...

When my baby boy grew into a toddler, afternoon naps still merited mama’s lap, and a soothing song.

Imagine my surprise one day, while I hugged, rocked, and sang, my little one joined in on the chorus of this ballad...

Whew...if that won’t do a mama in, I don’t know what will!

I hope the words of this song bless you...as I reminisce of days gone by...

The Beauty of His Name

words and music by: Lanny Wolfe

Some may wonder where the beauty lies

In the Name I hold so dear.

Well, it’s not just in the way it sounds

As it falls on my ears.

And it’s not just in the way it looks

When it’s written beautifully;

But the beauty of that lovely Name

Is in the power it gives to me.

Chorus:

It’s so beautiful,

The Name of Jesus;

It’s so beautiful,

That precious Name.

If you ask in Jesus’ name,

Anything is yours just to claim.

And I love that precious Name.

At the sound of His name

Every demon has to flee.

For to that Name all power is given

To set the hopeless captive free.

Every sin, disease and sickness

Must bow down to that Name.

And forever more surrender,

For all of time I shall proclaim...

Repeat chorus

And I love,

How I love,

I really love that precious Name.

How wonderful that your little one learned these words from your singing to him. I love that! It's so good to teach them about Jesus from infancy.

it is something...when our kids begin singing the songs that mean so much to us. I love it when my girls break out in singing the songs I listen to. Beautiful as always.

Beautiful name indeed. My third son could sing the song: Jesus name above all names, beautiful Savior, Glorious Lord...it was so cute to hear his little voice sing it. I love His name.

That is so beautiful. I love the name of Jesus, too. What a blessing you were to sing to your child so much that he joined in song with you. That would definitely tug on my heart strings, too!

Beautiful lyrics, Karen. His name is so beautiful. Oh those memories of rocking my children to sleep--seems like ages ago. What precious times. Every season is precious in its own way though.

Thank you for your encouraging words and for standing in the gap with me and lightening the burden. So overjoyed to be able to worship together. Blessings to you today!

I did not recognize the song but the words are beautiful. It is so important what is spoke (and sung) into their lives from the beginning. Thanks...

What a sweet memory. I remember rocking Josiah and singing Rock of Ages and Just As I Am and other classic hymns. And we played tapes of worship music at bedtime and nap times. I don't know for sure that the music gave him his sweet spirit but it certainly didn't hurt!

Ohhh Karen...what a heart's delight to have your baby son join in on this beautiful song! What a sweet, precious memory!

Though I did not know this, I tried to find it on YouTube and a beautiful singer had a sample of this and I loved the melody, wishing I did know this!!! Just beautiful!

Calling upon the power of that beautiful Name that we hold so dear! Loving you for sharing this
song and the beautiful way you wrote about this heartfelt, cherished moment of love & tenderness between you & your son & the Father's Son...Jesus!!!

What a beautiful grouping of words! What a message! I don't think I've hear this so I can't put a tune to it. I wish I could. Thanks for the testimony of a mother's influence on her children.
