Simple Joys – An Awakening

She rises slowly. The morning sunlight has just begun to filter through the blinds in the bedroom window...

blinds

Sleep filled baby blues are rubbed with small fists as she balances on her knees...

One eye peeps open...but the cool sheets beckon once again...

Five more minutes of snuggles...then the process repeats itself...several times...as she prepares to welcome this new day in the 69th week of her life...

Nanna watches these sweet encores through eyes that are barely open...hoping for a few minutes more under the covers...but enjoying this early morning performance...

Both of the baby grand’s eyes blink rapidly, as she glances over at the sentinel beside her...her lips curl into a slight grin...

And she lies down again...

No words spoken...

A minute later she is sitting up once more...staring...and her nanna thinks...

I’ve seen this morning look before...

On the face of her daddy...

She smiles and slowly moves her hand to the sheet on my arm...and YANKS the covers off of me...

I have to laugh...

And her day begins...with rapid chatter...unlimited energy...and total trust that the unfolding hours ahead were created just for her...full of adventure and joy...

Likewise, I need to remember that each morning...as the covers are thrown back...

Today is a new day...a fresh start...brand new mercies...abundant grace for whatever lies ahead...joy in the Lord...and never ending hope...because of Him...

Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:23 NLT

My favorite thing about God is how He watches over us each night, with singing. Sometimes I can feel the love so much, I don't want to ever get out of bed...

Blessings Karen...What a simple & precious JOY expressed so delightfully in your loving words of this new delight in your lives!!!

So beautifully written & a great keepsake of this moment for years to come! Yes, this is an AWAKENING and a simply special one...

I love how you tied it altogether in this wonderful WORD:

His mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:23 NLT

...and a chance for all of us to be awakened to this wonder from the LORD and all this new day holds for us...every day until our last.

Bless you & thanks for this Simple Joy...but really it's not that simple...
(((hugs)))
