Tiny slips of paper...crumpled...
the ink pale and barely legible...
Gifts of remembrance for fuel long ago guzzled by
car engines
from a salesman’s journeys...
or quick meals eaten on the road while sauces drip
on freshly starched shirts...
and beds foreign and sometimes lumpy that provide
temporary rest
for weary travelers...
Such is the lot of a procrastinating busy bookkeeper...2010 receipt remnants that multiply into stacks of paperwork that must be dealt with in the new year...
But sometimes the print is faded...
A Sherlock Holmes magnifier is held as bifocals are slipped up my nose and the paper flattened...
I peer through the lens...in exasperation...
Faded ink...unreadable...the useless paper is tossed into the trashcan...
And I ponder...
The words of my life...the story those after me will read when I am gone...
When they look closely through the magnifying glass, will they see the words of the Lord clearly etched in my story...or will the imprint be so faint, that certainty of my love for Him will not be easily read? Will they know Jesus was Lord of my life...or will the strokes of His grace and mercy be obscured by random wanderings?
Will the ink have faded?
Each verse read from God’s Holy word...every moment spent in His presence...will magnify that ink stained crimson by Jesus’ blood...
Have I let that ink fade?
Will your story be clearly read by those around you or have you let the ink fade?
Blessed (praised and extolled and thanked) be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come and brought deliverance and redemption to His people!
And He has raised up a Horn of salvation [a mighty and valiant Helper, the Author of salvation] for us in the house of David His servant—

Karen, this touched my very soul, and I am once again reminded of the gift the Lord has given you to write that which brings out more of Him in each of us. I, too, pray that He will "pen His words onto my heart and inscribe them so deeply that they will never fade away." Thank you for being His instrument, dear Karen.
Beautifully inspiring, Karen.
I am always encouraged when I
read your words because I know
they come from your heart that
loves Jesus so. I also pray that
the Lord will "pen His words onto
my heart..."
Hugs,
Sandy
That is so beautifully written! Thank you for sharing these thoughts.
Oh this was beautiful, Karen. How very touched I was by your words. I think there was a time in my life when the ink was faded, crumpled in a discarded paper ball. But no longer -
May God write HIS Words in my heart, and use my story for HIS Glory!
GOD BLESS!
This is a beautiful post. Happy New Year to you my friend. :)

Lovely post. Thank you for sharing. Blessings.
WOW...Karen...AMEN and amen... So very thankful we are REDEEMED and forgiven! So very blessed by your gift of touching the deepest parts of our soul and hearts through your words! Ink that has not faded!
I may never achieve such honor or powerful legacy but from what I know of you, as I look closely with or without bifocals or magnifying glass, I see a beautiful woman of God that has etched His Words on your life...not faint at all, your love for Our Lord is easily read through the gift of your writing
and I believe that life you live.
I clearly see Jesus as Lord in your life. Each stroke of the pen, each word, flow with His mercy and grace.
Those are the words that you wrote and hope those after will see, well I see them NOW. And now is what counts and that each tomorrow will be an increase as you abide in God and He in you, shared among your family and loved ones, shared with sisters in Christ, shared with children and grandchildren, shared in the blogosphere... shared by the Light that glows from your heart.
The Author of our salvation is imprinted on our hearts, hopefully seen not faded, as He inscribed them and you wrote them...filled with Life giving words so beautifully etched by His precious hand and in His Love letters to us, that we would read and share with one another and those who have not heard or listened... may we make a difference. I love what Laurie wrote and I echo her words! Well done and written, vessel of God!
Thank you... I am blessed by you!
Fiddlesticks on those faded receipts, our receipt was paid in full and our lives need to show the balance daily with our praise and gratitude to Our Lord! But you still need something to account for those other purchases for your records, but God's record is well recorded and accounted for...
Such a rich inspiration for this new beginnings of this year! Praying that your 2011 is filled with God's Mighty pen of Love, grace and an outpouring for the Redeemed! Salvation is ours and our households in Jesus' Name. May we speak words of Life and see God's life alive in all around us! More of Him, less of us. Blessings!!!
Peace and JOY,
Peggy
