But He Didn’t Cry...

He was hurting...

But since real men don’t cry -

He didn’t.

And the unshed tears hid deep...and pain subsided for a season

walking

Life came with another deep cut...

Loose bandages hid the wounds but did nothing for the pain...

But He didn’t cry.

And the reservoir of grief rose higher...

grieving man

Later heartache came to visit...

Its stilettos danced with punctures deep...

Now scarred and full of anguish,

He wants to cry out...the dam is at the bursting point...

sorrow

And then...

He sees the bottle.

God’s bottle…

The one with his name on it...resting in one mighty hand...while the other hand is extended towards his sea of tears...ready to number and carry each drop...

hand reaching

And the levee of pride shifts...

as the sandbags of self sufficiency begin to fall...

levee

The teardrops slip faster and faster through the cracks...

and the healing begins...

Restoration...

Peace...

You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears
in Your bottle.

You have recorded each one in Your book.

I've always thanked that Lord that tears are a language He understands - even if no one else does. I'm sure it's harder for guys to let the tears flow. We've done great harm teaching boys and men that they should not cry. Thanks for this beautiful post!

Karen, this is POWERFUL and TENDER! Thankful that GOD knows and understands and gathers up every tear we cry. I'm also thankful that anyone can go to GOD in their raw and be restored!

He's an awesome GOD!

Thank you for sharing! Love you.

Yes men do not cry much but they need to learn to. It is a language. They hurt also, of course.

Oh Karen - this was beautiful. I love how your wonderful words were perfectly matched to the photos - it all came together to convey such an inspirational message.

God's bottle - the image of it being held in one mighty hand - I just started crying...

Good tears...thank you.

GOD BLESS!

Just beautiful! He knows the portion of every tear drop. Beautiful prose, in His Name and for the sake of His Glory! Amen and Hallelujah!

He alone can turn our valley of weeping into a pool of refreshing. Karen, this was such a lovely post.

ohhhh Karen... (sigh) a beautiful, inspiring, touch of God poured through your words and heart...

etched here...

carved on the palms of God...

held in a bottle...

with one name written on it...

Then you delicately shift the levee; and powerfully convey pride, self sufficiency, cracks...

and finally the healing, restoration, peace...
ahhhhhhhhhhhh

So difficult for the strong to render themselves weak, to let that healing take place... for men (boys) I agree with the comment above that we should not teach or expect them not to cry or show human emotion of their heartaches,
perhaps we do not know how to comfort them or draw them out to open up... and they lock it away inside. Praying for tenderness. Praying for open hearts. Praying for healing and restoration. Praying to cope with HOPE in Jesus!

Reaching up from the valley...

and telling you how beautiful you express the Comforter's love and this Psalm. Sorrows and tomorrows
bottled up... Karen, you have such a wonderful gift of words. I'm thankful for every message you share. You are such a blessing!
I treasure YOU!

Love, hugs, prayers and PEACE,
Peggy
