Remember our first anniversary?
You rented a suite at the White Columns Inn...the one on Hwy 41 that reminded me of Gone with the Wind...
After eating at the steakhouse, we stopped in the nearby Kmart...
We bought perfume for each other...and you bought me a new book...just because you knew I loved to read...
We only had one free night and very little cash...but we had our whole lives ahead of us and were rich in love...
Years passed...
with celebrations of candlelit dinners...
trips to the Smoky Mountains...
and sometimes a night at home with the kids.
They were all special anniversaries...
Because they were spent with you.
Remember the trip to Niagara Falls?
You were so proud to be taking me somewhere special I had never been before...
and you were like a teenager in your enthusiasm to show me everything...
Did you ever realize I was happy and proud just to be with you?
To be loved by you?
Today marks the 34th year we have been blessed
to be husband and wife...
After years of good health and few accidents, this summer we had the opportunity to make good on another part of our wedding vows...
in sickness and in health...
I think we passed with flying colors.
As far as the rest of the vows...
The Lord has been with us during the better...
And carried us through the worst...
Solomon's riches can't compare with the wealth of our love,
so there is no fear of poverty...

I just realized that even though I read this sent ecard, that I never commented on your beautiful memories and anniversary post! (sigh) This certainly is a precious tribute to your honey and you and marriage. And congratulations for passing another phase of those vows with 'flying colors'...you have had enough so now celebrate the always and forever and keep those hands intertwined because the Lord certainly is in this and will carry you when you may be weak, discouraged or feeling a bit trampled on... He is strong and ever present to take you through this together for better, for health,... etc. and even the other side. You have each other and He has you both and your family. Hold on! I have not been here in a long time, and was prompted to drop by today. What a blessing this post is. Happy 34th anniversary... my husband and I would have celebrated our 33rd year this year if he were alive. We had 30 wonderful and blessed years of marriage when God took him home 3 years ago.
I sure am glad I came by to read this today.
