“He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.

Thirty-five years ago this week, preparations were underway for a very special first date at a December 3rd Christmas banquet.
It was a wonder-filled evening long ago, as I looked into the eyes of the dimple-cheeked boy I would soon marry.
Several years later, I was in awe again when I gazed into the sweet eyes of our first born son…
This past Sunday...
That same son lead us in worship...
to the One who is called Wonderful...
What does the word wonderful mean to you?
A moment?
A person?
A reason for living?
When we think of the most wonderful times in our lives, or the most treasured people we know and love...
None of them even come close
to the awesomeness of the Lord.
No moment is as great as looking into the eyes of the
One most wondrous
Eyes of compassion
Eyes of mercy
Eyes of love
Extending grace filled hands that show
the scars of the true meaning
of wonderful
As Christmas lights twinkle in the eyes of children everywhere...
and their little faces reflect amazement at the simplest of things...
let the Light of Christmas
renew in us
the awesome wonder
of the
Name above all names...
He shall be called...Wonderful
JESUS
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given;and the government shall be upon His shoulder:and His name shall be calledWonderful,Counselor,Mighty God,Everlasting Father,Prince of Peace.

This is a beautiful post about wonderful...which describes life to me.
However, He is the Wonderful One!
Aah, beautifully written Karen. I can only imagine how wonderful it feels to have your son lead you into worship.
Karen....I love this. Powerful--emotional...charged with "thinking" and INTENTIONAL living for HIM...our Savior!
I love and miss (time here) you friend!!! (I'm at mothers for the remainder of this week and ACTUALLY got her internet to temporarily work!!!
I was just studying this morning about His wonderful name and how this name He has been given is above every other name! It is above every ruler, sickness, disease, demon, power or principality and one day all will have to bow and worship Him!
Love these precious pictures you have shared. Wonderful memories, I'm sure.
Hugs~
Oh, Karen, that is so beautiful, thank you. Hugs ~
WOW!!! Blessings Karen... how beautiful you capture all of this...and the WONDER of it all!!!
You wrote this to me about
the artist Akiane,
"I loved the painting of her little brother and her thoughts on "wonder"...I am working on a post about the wonder and awe of the Lord...so her words really spoke to me... " so I too was thinking on "wonder" and Our Wonderful Counselor.
Also I wondered what she had said so I had to go back and listen... (Another God-incidence)...why can't we be like a child? in Wonder?
but there is a special wonder that comes through your words that I love and the JOY of a sweetheart, wife, mother, grandma that has experienced many firsts since 17 and still remains shy... that I LOVE even more! What a JOY to hear your son lead worship! What a JOY to recall that Christmas banquet! What a JOY to look in those sweet blue eyes and the twinkle!
And what a JOY in the LIGHT of CHRISTMAS and truly the most awesome WONDER in the name of all names!!! I stand in awe and in WONDER... I guess that fills me with wonder making all wonderful!
I was curious about the word "wonderful"... and "wonder"
and its derivative but when I just looked it up in ye'old Merriam-Webster, I was amazed to see the word
MIRACLE; of course there was admiration and astonishment but there was "rapt attention at something awesomely mysterious or new to one's experience"... followed by a feeling of doubt or uncertainty... hmmm
I wonder... could our certainty and faith be any more filled with WONDER than to know the WONDERFUL SAVIOR and LORD Jesus, to be so rapt in our attention to His Presence and Holy Spirit's power to actually see the MIRACLE of not only His birth but how He lives in us and is reflected so beautifully through you and your love! What a wonder to have shared this life intentionally with Him and your dear husband! Truly worth congratulations and many more blessings to be filled with WONDER! God bless you both as you continue to receive the wonders before you through God!
In the love and peace of Jesus(((big hugs))),
Peggy
Karen, I love this! (Love the photo of you and your (then) future husband.)
But as you say, nothing can compare to the Savior...our Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Everlasting Father.
Blessings,
Joan

Such a precious post. It was just beautiful.
Yes, He is beyond words - our Wonderful Savior. Won't it be something to one day look into His loving eyes?!

Beautiful post.
Lovely post. Wishing you a blessed Advent!
Your post is wonderful, Karen! Thank you for the blessing you share in pointing to the One who truly is Wonderful. There are many wonderful moments in life, the ones you mentioned in your own life are, but as you say, none of them do come close to the Lord's awesomeness!
This is such a beautiful post. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Thanks for sharing.
