Caroling Blog to Blog–Glorious Impossible

Let’s go caroling!

CAROLING

Peggy @ ~Amazing Grace~ Mazes, Messes, Miracles is hosting a caroling blog hop.  Join up and share your favorite Christmas song.

“Oh Holy Night” is my best-loved traditional Christmas song, but about 3 years ago I was introduced to the “Glorious Impossible”. It quickly rose to the top of my list of favorites.

While researching the origin of the song, I came across this info from the songwriter – Carl Cartee.  This is his response to the question:

“if with God ALL things ARE POSSIBLE”, the lyrics don’t make sense .. what did I miss, please explain”.

He replied:

“Nothing is impossible with God, that’s true, but the song is intended to be a celebration of God stepping into what was impossible for us and making it glorious through his overcoming power. The verses try to set up pictures of things that seem impossible for us, the incarnation, walking on water, the resurrection and then invite us to believe beyond ourselves and look for miracles that move us to worship. Poetically using two words that don’t really go together normally, sets the listener up to have one word redeem the other...It’s a response to the truth in the verses…”

See the Virgin is delivered
In a cold and crowded stall
Mirror of the Father's glory
Lies beside her in the straw

He is Mercy's incarnation
Marvel at this miracle!
For the Virgin gently holds
The Glorious Impossible

Love has come to walk on water
Turn the water into wine
Touch the leper, bless the children
Love both human and divine

Praise the wisdom of the Father
Who has spoken through His Son
Speaking still, He calls us to
The Glorious Impossible

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Glorious Impossible

He was bruised for our transgressions
And He bears eternal scars
He was raised for our salvation
And His righteousness is ours

Praise, oh praise Him, praise the glory
Of this lavish grace so full
Lift your souls now and receive the
Glorious Impossible!

Beautiful, Karen. I can understand why it became one of your favorites. Because of Jesus birth the things we thought impossible is now possible when we ask in His name. Hallelujah!

Ohhhh Karen... Goosebumps and tears!!! I started to weep when I read the response of the songwriter, but as I watched the beautiful scenes from the Nativity with the words ... now I'm sobbing.

I was going to send you two that I found and this was the second one... but truly the BEST! As we bow this season to the "Glorious Impossible"... Hallelujah Anyhow... those photos of Mary and baby Jesus... priceless and precious!!!

This video was so well done!
and well chosen... thank you for sharing your new favorite... and perhaps making it one of mine. So much to take in... in this One. The verses do DO exactly what Carl set up and set out with vivid pictures of impossible made flesh and
possible if WE BELIEVE!

Many blessings and much love
(((hugs)))
