When You Need It Most

People need loving the most when they deserve it the least.” John Harrigan

See the people?

friend

The friend who betrayed your trust and seemingly forgot every promise she ever made to you

and deserves forgiveness the least...

needs forgiveness the most

as she battles alone the demons trying to destroy her family...

The pastor who forgot the purpose of his calling amidst numbers and payroll

and deserves grace the least...

needs grace the most

because he is the one God has chosen to lead your loved one to Christ...

The addict who lies and steals and cheats

and deserves mercy the least...

needs mercy the most

because he is looking for a Strong Tower,
with eyes blind and hands chained...

Can you see the people?

The man in the deepest pit dug by selfish choices and hateful actions

who deserves hope the least...

needs hope the most

because death waves a ticket of escape in his face stamped with a date that is too early...

Can you see?

The wretch who stomped thru the puddles of blood flowing from Calvary in indifference...who stepped up in pride instead of kneeling down in humbleness...who turned away from the only One compassionate enough to see through her façade of fear...who shook her fist at the One whose hands were reaching out to save...

who deserved love the least...

who deserved no love at all...

but needed love the most...

was given the

most love possible

in the form of God in the flesh...

See the people?

They are everywhere and everyone...

They are me and they are you

and because the most we deserved was death,

Jesus Christ became the least so we could have the most wonderful gift of all...

a life with Him

But God shows his love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

I needed this today, Karen, to put my thoughts into perspective and to really see the people who have recently caused me pain in the light as Jesus sees them. I am so grateful He see me through His grace, mercy and love, also. His hope is my hope, and I will need to call on Him many times today. He is love as I want to be love, but I have a long way to go. Thank you for this message, my friend.

Karen, a wise and thoughtful post. This week has been a huge struggle for me and I've keenly felt Dave's death and the death of our dream. I'm struggling but feel like I'm going in circles; I so need to have God's grace embrace me.

You always bless me with everything you share, Karen, and this is no exception. We are surrounded by people, those we know and don't know, who need forgiveness and understanding. We all need more of Jesus.
Love,
Sandy

I've been thinking, in particular, about forgiveness today . . . about some bitter feelings that are still present over a situation that happened a few years ago. It helps me to see the other side, my other side as well. We all need the cross and the blood that was shed there.

Beautiful post, Karen.

Blessings Karen,

When I need ... the most, here you are with your gift of capturing the many that may not deserve or seen as the least, but the wonderful grace, and the powerful message of the only One who gives us unrelentlessly HIS MOST!

I agree with your dad... powerful!

So very thankful for His love and the Cross, and how you draw this so vividly in words to magnify Him and the life He gives. Both Dads can be pleased with how you pen His love and call to us, to everyone, to SEE
these people, these needs, the immensity of what we need most ...
from forgiveness, to grace, to hope, to mercy ... To Jesus!!!

Love you, and thank you. Sending hugs, and prayers (it may be a while until I get back to a cyber to visit again but when I do, you
seem to have just the right words
I need most...) Missin' ya' Peggy

This is a beautiful post. The compassion of Christ shines through.

Yes, I am the person whom God loves and so is my neighbor. We are both undeserving. But God's grace covers us.

Thank you, God, for sending Jesus to die for the sins of all. He covers us with his robe of righte
ousness.

Praise the Lord for this post, Karen. It really is so full of love and grace and kindness.

Ahhh... I must admit my heart is not always that way. It is so easy to pass on judgment and withhold love, when it is within my power to give it.

This post just says it all.

Thank you for sharing what God placed on your heart for us to read.

This prose is very beautiful. As a christian, doing the right thing is sometimes hard but with Christ's grace, we are able to do even the impossible.

What a beautiful post, it reminds me of the scripture that speaks of us decreasing and the Lord increasing. We need to be as Jesus to the broken, the needy and weak. Bless you for writing faithfully... A sister in Christ planted in Scotland, Julie
