What is Certain in Life?

Many blue moons ago, while Doris Day sang:

“The future's not ours to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be"

my friends and I wondered, hoped, and planned a future ripe with knights in shining armor, picket fences surrounding swing sets, and exciting careers in exotic places...unconcerned that armor conceals the real knight and exotic places rarely sport wooden fences and jungle gyms.

knight

Fast forward several decades and the world is a scary place...

The jet packs and Rosie the Robot maids that we all assumed would be the norm by now have been replaced by terrors abroad and on home soil...dishonest leadership...nonexistent accountability...and disregard for creation.

We never discussed this in home ec class...

Hell and damnation were reserved for the vilest of sinners...while the rest of the population would just float along in a sea of tranquility and blow bubbles from wands dipped in the imagined squeaky cleanliness of their noble lives...not a care in the world.

But we know that’s just not real...

What is certain is -

We will
  • have struggles
  • grow weary
  • feel pain
  • lose loved ones
  • not understand
  • reach a breaking point
  • want to give up
That is life in our post-paradise world...

BUT

there are promises...

more promises than the “might happens”...and “will happens”...and “already happened”...and the “happening right now”...

When you have to step off the shore of supposed safety and venture into deep waters...and the buoys and life preservers are hidden behind the darkened clouds of a world gone mad...and arms flail and feet slip and heads threaten to go underneath the unrelenting current...

look up...

the Father’s strong right arm reaches down,

the Savior lifts up,

and the tide turns as the Spirit rushes in.

"Victory is the place
where our breaking point
becomes our turning point."
— L. Burt

What is certain in life is this -

we will...

but

God does

provide
protect
restore
forgive
comfort
love
and

so much more than we can imagine...

Victory is certain for a child of God.

I love that verse in Isaiah! So true! I'm thankful for the Father's arms holding me up when the current of events threatens to sweep me over.

Thanks for dropping by Karen. Always love your input!

Awesome Karen... fits right in with my "uncertainty" in my post tomorrow and you, my gifted writer, have summed it all up in truth and wisdom, in a sorrily missed blog ... and then you come shining through with words stringed together of encouragement and hope! Isaiah 43 and "Oceans" definitely attest to the victory we can find and have as HIS! Love the quote ... also such truth! ¡Qué será, SERÁ!!! What WILL be ...will be ... Promises we have in Him ... and we will ... Post paradise, huh? well, I'm hanging on to some pre-tribulation rather than post ... with a "Hallelujah Anyhow" shout! and a Glory to God praise ... so much more than we can imagine. Thanks for this illuminating encouragement and pointing me in this direction - don't know how I missed this! So thankful for Our Father's strong right arm and your wisdom in sharing so well. Love and blessings~ Peggy

You remind me of the reassurances I know! I needed this as I see a lot of suffering around me.

Yes! It's only because of God and His promises I've made it this far since Dave's death.

Just what I needed to hear, Karen. Your heart shows right through the words you pen, and I sense the presence of the Father here in your blog place. I really don't read blogs anymore these days, and much less leave comments at the end... but that is one reason I have nearly lost my connection with many of my blog friends. In truth, I no longer remember when I last visited here. Thank you for leaving a warm response to my "Sweet Sorrow" post... it connected me back to you. Shalom... may God's peace surround you, Karen. Blessings, Lidia
