God STOP Sunday – A New Life

10 thoughts

One of the best examples of the Savoring The Observable Presence of the Lord is...holding a brand new life in your arms. Science can talk of cloning and test tube babies all it wants, but the bottom line is...God creates life and no amount of research, government funding, or geniuses can breathe into the dust of the earth and create a living soul. Created by God, in the image of God, and for the glory of God...Amen!

So let me tell you, sisters, when I held my NEW BABY GRANDDAUGHTER today, I was savoring, observing, and proclaiming the Observable Presence of God!

Please welcome Kaidence Divinity!

Her name means Rhythm of Heaven...does that mean we have another singer in the family?

God STOP - El-Shaddai

I got a letter from my wanderer this week and he asked if I could find the words to a certain old song that we used to sing in church. He did not know the name of it, and only remembered part of one line in the chorus. I thought I knew the name, but couldn't remember all the verses so I did what anyone does when they want to know something...I googled it. Well, I googled until I was red in the face and couldn't find a thing.

Many moons ago I used to play the piano and have a collection of several old hymn books (one was given to me by my Grandmother) and stacks of sheet music...waaay up in my attic. I felt certain I knew which book had this song, so I went searching and happily found it. I sent him a copy of the words and all was well.

Now stay with me...

On Saturdays during the month of March, I have been sharing some of My Granddaddy's favorite songs on the TSMSS meme. He passed away last summer at the age of 93 and his next birthday would have been on March 31st. He was a Christian and a preacher for 76 years. Granddaddy had told me some of his favorite songs in a video interview that was done the Christmas before he died. I remembered the titles he gave me and had already shared several.

Now there is no shortage of videos and mp3's available for songs from the last 30 years or so, but the selections grow smaller after the 1970's...especially with gospel songs. When I was choosing a song to dedicate this week, I couldn't find any media to share. That is not required or even essential, but I like to hear the melody of a song and not just read the words, if possible.

Anyway...I just couldn't seem to find the right song for this week, so I pulled up the transcript of the video. Right in the middle of a paragraph...between all the references to song titles with special memories...he made mention of a line in a song. It was the SAME SONG my wanderer had asked me to find him!

I cried!

God is SOOO GOOD!

Now I am crying again as I write this...

Sure, I had read the transcript before, but I did not remember that particular passage because Granddaddy did not specify the song's title. So when I READ those words from Granddaddy after FINDING them for my wanderer...I was overcome with God's mercy and assurance that He is in control of seemingly out of control situations.

Not having the media to this song suddenly did not matter one bit...

I truly Savored The Observable Presence of God this week!

El-Shaddai!!

God STOP Sunday - Jehovah Jireh

A loved one that I have been praying for shared a memory with me this week that really spoke to my heart. This person spoke of a day many years ago when they desperately needed $20 to be able to buy a few grocery items and a few dollars worth of gas to go to work the next day. Not wanting to ask their boss for an advance, but not knowing where to turn, they uttered a desperate prayer to the Lord and asked for help with their predicament. After parking the car and preparing to go into work on Thursday (before the Friday payday), this person opened the car door, placed one foot on the pavement, and saw a $20 dollar bill lying on the concrete. They picked up the bill and then...CRIED.

Well, I nearly cried myself when I heard the story, and my eyes did blur, but I made the simple comment of, "The Lord takes care of His own." That was all that was said, and the conversation changed to something else, but I felt in my spirit that the Lord had really been dealing with this person.

Later I read on Carolyn's blog about the spiritual warfare going on for the souls of our family. I was really touched and renewed my vow to never stop being a prayer warrior for those I love and those in need. We have to stand in the gap and earnestly pray that God will change us to be whatever He needs us to be in order to help open the eyes of our loved ones so they may see the light of God's love.

So this week I Savored The Observable Presence of the Lord with Jehovah Jireh...times two! I heard a testimony of God providing help in a time of need, and then the Lord gave me assurance He is working on a prayer of mine.

God STOP Sunday

My God SPOT for this week actually happened last Sunday and was reaffirmed this morning. Last Sunday was the 1st anniversary of Graceland – the north campus of the Church at Liberty Square. I visit there from time to time because my oldest son and his family are charter members of that church and recently my youngest son and his wife have started going there. Corey and Ben play guitar and drums in the worship band and it just thrills this mother's heart to see them praising the Lord this way. My daughter in law teaches the toddler class, so I am very proud of all of them.

At the anniversary service, the music and singing were especially good and a sweet spirit was flowing through the congregation. During one of my favorite songs, I stopped singing at one point and opened my eyes and happened to look at my sons. Overwhelming joy and thankfulness threatened to burst my heart as I praised the Lord for saving my children and directing them to a church that feeds their souls and allows them to minister to others with the gifts God has given them.

Later that day, when I was recalling that moment, the Lord reminded me that when any of His children worship Him, honor Him, and minister to others, that He has great joy! As I delight in my children, my Heavenly Father delights in my praises to Him.

Yet you are holy, enthroned on the
praises of Israel.

Psalm 22:3 ESV

The main campus of the church showed a slide show and video this morning about Graceland's anniversary and when I saw the picture of my boys, I felt I needed to share this today for Carrie's God STOP Sunday.

God STOP Sunday

My dear daughter-in-law has started a Sunday meme over at Thoughts, Ponderings, Musings... Please visit Carrie to get the basics for posting on God STOP Sunday and to share in some wonderful testimonies about our amazing Father God.

My God STOP moment for this week is really a very simple one, but it made an impression on a certain someone that really needs to be reminded of how much God cares about His children...whether it concerns big things or small...He cares about it all.

There are two kinds of people...those who misplace things and those who misplace a lot of things. My DH is a member of the second type, in very good standing and tops in his class. The number one "thing" in this category is his keys. These elusive keys are never in the same place twice and there is always a frantic scavenger hunt at the last minute to find the "prize". No one was winning this game on Thursday and after searching everywhere, it seemed all hope was lost.

I was alone at my desk so I bowed my head and said a very simple prayer to God asking for help with my DH's rising blood pressure due to the missing keys. As I raised my head at the end of "in Jesus' name", I knew where the keys were. No mighty vision, no booming voice, just the simple knowledge of where a simple item was located in a house full of not so simple hiding places. After placing them in DH's hand, he said "Thank you...where in the world did you find them?" I said, "Don't thank me, but thank God because He's the one who answered my prayer."

Now this isn't a big time, burning bush, life saving event, but it was a small incident that made it possible to show God's glory for even the "little" things...like lost keys.
