Caroling Blog to Blog–Glorious Impossible

5 thoughts

Let’s go caroling!

CAROLING

Peggy @ ~Amazing Grace~ Mazes, Messes, Miracles is hosting a caroling blog hop.  Join up and share your favorite Christmas song.

“Oh Holy Night” is my best-loved traditional Christmas song, but about 3 years ago I was introduced to the “Glorious Impossible”. It quickly rose to the top of my list of favorites.

While researching the origin of the song, I came across this info from the songwriter – Carl Cartee.  This is his response to the question:

“if with God ALL things ARE POSSIBLE”, the lyrics don’t make sense .. what did I miss, please explain”.

He replied:

“Nothing is impossible with God, that’s true, but the song is intended to be a celebration of God stepping into what was impossible for us and making it glorious through his overcoming power. The verses try to set up pictures of things that seem impossible for us, the incarnation, walking on water, the resurrection and then invite us to believe beyond ourselves and look for miracles that move us to worship. Poetically using two words that don’t really go together normally, sets the listener up to have one word redeem the other...It’s a response to the truth in the verses…”

See the Virgin is delivered
In a cold and crowded stall
Mirror of the Father's glory
Lies beside her in the straw

He is Mercy's incarnation
Marvel at this miracle!
For the Virgin gently holds
The Glorious Impossible

Love has come to walk on water
Turn the water into wine
Touch the leper, bless the children
Love both human and divine

Praise the wisdom of the Father
Who has spoken through His Son
Speaking still, He calls us to
The Glorious Impossible

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Glorious Impossible

He was bruised for our transgressions
And He bears eternal scars
He was raised for our salvation
And His righteousness is ours

Praise, oh praise Him, praise the glory
Of this lavish grace so full
Lift your souls now and receive the
Glorious Impossible!

It Will Be More Than Okay

9 thoughts

For the tired and weary...

 For the one ready to give up...

For the one who feels all hope is gone...

Remember...

He made a way...

He is The Way...

At The Cross

Oh Lord You've searched me
You know my ways
Even when I fail You
I know You love me

Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me

At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now?

You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me

You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that it is done

And when the earth fades
falls from my eyes
You stand before me
I know You love me
I know You love me

The 6th Day of Christmas – Two Things I Need

9 thoughts

with Carrie @ Thoughts, Ponderings, Musings

It’s so easy for the trappings of the Christmas season to overwhelm us with things we think we need to do...

There are many ways to help us stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas, and one thing I love to do is listen to my two favorite Christmas songs at least once a day...or more!

Oh Holy Night” has become dearer to me with the passing years. Every verse seems to take on a deeper meaning with each new Christmas season.

Glorious Impossible” is a relatively new song for me, but for the past two years I have grown to love the words and meaning of this song. God reminds me that when He gave me the gift of the “Glorious Impossible”... each impossibility I seem to face, is turned into an Entirely Possible through Him...

Are you trusting Him with your impossibilities this season?

He is the only One that can turn hopelessness

into a promise conceived...

The 5th Day of Christmas – Merry Melody

with Carrie @ Thoughts, Ponderings, Musings

What is Christmas time without songs and carols? When I was a very young child, the adults liked to have me sing into the big radio microphone, while Granddaddy recorded it on his reel-to-reel tape recorder.

microphone

The First Noel” was one of my favorites and I remember straining quite a bit on the high parts...the adults were amused by my rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Breathless by the 8th or 9th verse, but determined to finish the entire song, I indulged the grownups and supplied their laugh of the day.

Untitled-1 copy

Continuing the tradition with my own kids, sans the reel-to-reel, my oldest son set new words to this traditional carol that he and his brothers can still sing to this day...

Five golden rings,

Four falling birds,

Three grin-grins,

Two turtle ducks,

And a par-bear in a pear tree!

Last year I taught this song to my two oldest grandkids...they agreed that their daddy’s version was the best!

I won’t be satisfied
I won’t be found alright til I find
Who You are

I’d climb every mountain
I’d travel the deepest valley to find
Who You are

You, You cause the lame to walk
You open lips to talk
You’re everything and that is who You are

You, You calm the storms at night
You turn the dark to light
You’re everything and that is who You are

My Savior, my Healer, Redeemer
That is who You are
Creator, my Maker, my Father
That is who You are

Way of Worship – Bless Your Name Forever More

13 thoughts

WayofWorship-1 with One Heart

From the darkness came the light,
Out of nothingness You made life;
For before the world You were, bless Your name forevermore.
Lord according to Your plan, You created every man;
Just to glorify You and, bless Your name forevermore.

Then into the world You came, by the power of Your name,
and You washed my sins away, bless Your name forevermore.
So I come before your throne, through no goodness of my own,
and I worship you alone, bless You name forevermore.

I will bless Your name
I will bless Your name
I will bless Your name forevermore
I will bless Your name
I will bless Your name
I will bless Your name forevermore

I WILL extol You, my God, O King;

and I will bless Your name

forever and ever

[with grateful, affectionate praise].

Weekends of Worship – I Adore You

24 thoughts

wowbutton with One Heart

On the way to church this morning, the song I am sharing was in queue to play. I’ve always liked the intro where the worship leader calls it a “love song to the Lord”...

That’s what all worship is really...proclaiming our love towards the One who is Love...whether in song, service to others, or a proclamation from our heart...our love song is whatever way we have intimate communion with God...

So Lord, I pray...I love You, I honor you, I cherish You, I ADORE you...You are the Light in the day and the Rest in the night...You KNOW me, yet you love me still...You know my desires, my heartaches, my fears, and my weaknesses...and You are the answer to each one...so in all my ways...I want to show adoration and honor to You...whether I am lifting my voice with others at church...or singing a melody in my heart to You alone...whether I am on my knees or climbing the stairs...I will worship my King, my Saviour, and my Dearest Friend...

I adore you, Jesus...

You saw me in my need
You paid the price for me
And through Your love
I have been set free

Now I am not the same
You took my sin and shame
Forever I will bless Your Holy Name

I adore You
I adore You
Lamb of God
My Savior, Prince of Peace

I adore You
I adore You
Jesus You mean all the world to me
I adore You Lord.

Unredeemed – TSMSS

redeemed

re⋅deem

  • to buy or pay off; clear by payment
  • to recover (something pledged ) by payment or other satisfaction
  • to discharge or fulfill (a pledge, promise, etc.).
  • to make up for; make amends for; offset (some fault, shortcoming, etc.)
  • to obtain the release or restoration of, as from captivity, by paying a ransom.
  • to deliver from sin and its consequences by means of a sacrifice offered for the sinner.

Amen….thank you Jesus

The cruelest world
The coldest heart
The deepest wound
The endless dark
The lonely ache
The burning tears
The bitter nights
The wasted years

Life breaks and falls apart
But we know these are
Places where grace is soon to be so amazing
It may be unfulfilled
It may be unrestored
But when anything that's shattered is laid before the Lord
Just watch and see
It will not be unredeemed

For every choice that led to shame
And all the love that never came
For every vow that someone broke
And every lie that gave up hope
We live in the shadow of the fall

But the cross says these are all
Places where grace is soon to be so amazing
It may be unfulfilled
It may be unrestored
But when anything that's shattered is laid before the Lord
Just watch and see
It will not be unredeemed

Places where grace is soon to be so amazing
It may be unfulfilled
It may be unrestored
But you never know the miracle the Father has in store
Just watch and see
It will not be
Just watch and see
It will not be unredeemed

I Bless Your Name - TSMSS

14 thoughts

CHAINS...

There are so many...

Fear

Discouragement

Sorrow

Depression

Hopelessness

Addiction

Busyness

Complacency

Bitterness

Pride

It’s time to let them fall in Jesus' name...

and give Him praise!

In prisoners' chains,
With bleeding stripes,
Paul and Silas prayed that night.
And in their pain
began to sing,
Their chains were loosed,
And they were free.

I bless Your Name;
I bless Your Name;
I give You honor, give You praise.
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way;
I bless Your Name;
I bless Your Name.

Some midnight hour,
If you should find,
You're in a prison in your mind.
Reach out and praise,
Defy those chains,
And they will fall,
In Jesus' Name!

We bless Your Name;
We bless Your Name;
We give You honor, give You praise.
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way;
We bless Your Name;
We bless Your Name.

You are the Life, the Truth, the Way;
We bless Your Name;
We bless Your Name.

O LORD, truly I am your servant;

I am your servant, the son of your maidservant;

you have freed me from my chains.

Hallelujah - TSMSS

12 thoughts

Refuge...Sanctuary...

a Hiding Place...

a Safe Haven of Rest...

Perfect Peace...

Yes, Lord...

Hallelujah
Tenth Avenue North

At first I am afraid
But not because of fear
But the holy of holies is drawing me near
Your voice like thunder
Shakes the ground I'm on

Hide my face in the shadow of Your wings, oh Lord
Hide my sin from the beauty here before Your throne

Hallelujah for the blood of the lamb that was slain
Hallelujah for the blood of the lamb that was slain
And so we enter in
to see Your face
Enter in to see Your face, oh God

I'm falling to my knees
I feel the earth beneath
With the weight of my sin and this crushing unbelief
Could You really love me
With all that I've done?

You spread Your hands
And made a refuge for the weak
And blessed the weary bruised and broken
Took us in
Inside Your wounds we hide away
Inside Your wounds we hide

You spread Your hands
And made a refuge for the weak
And blessed the weary bruised and broken
Took us in
Inside Your wounds we hide away
Inside Your wounds we hide

The Proverbial Sunrise - My Hope

9 thoughts

When Amanda first listed the August theme of "HOPE" for The Proverbial Sunrise, this old song immediately came to mind....
"My Hope is Built on Nothing Less"
by Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

Amazed and Undo - TSMSS

14 thoughts

One of the battles I am fighting right now escalated this week into a full fledged war zone. Amidst the turmoil and tears, the Lord showed His amazing love.

The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."

Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

The song "Amazed" looped in my head during the early morning hours on Friday and changed my grief to praise as I gave thanks to the One that knows the future and can comfort my heart and calm my fears.

When I pulled up the video I wanted to share, the title of one of the related videos caught my eye.

Undo...

Never had heard it, but had to listen for a moment...

it was just what I needed to hear!

I was reminded that only the Lord can "undo" the mess we make of our lives and we can't fix things on our own, no matter how hard we try...so we certainly can't "undo" the mess another person has made of their life and we just have to leave that situation in God's strong but gentle hands.

Mercy Seat - TSMSS

12 thoughts

The Lord said to Moses, Tell Aaron your brother he must not come at all times into the Holy of Holies within the veil before the mercy seat upon the ark, lest he die, for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.

Leviticus 16:2 AMP

It's time to run...

It's time to run if you need help...

It's time to run if you need healing...

It's time to run if you need a miracle...

It's time to run...

To the MERCY SEAT....

For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives. [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,

Whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith.

Romans 3:24-25 AMP

Mercy Seat

In the darkness
Where everything is unknown
I face the power of sin on my own
I did not know of a place I could go
Where I could find a way to
Heal my wounded soul.

He said that I could come into
His presence without fear
Into the holy place where
His mercy hovers near

I'm runnin' I'm runnin'
I'm runnin' to the mercy seat
Where Jesus is callin' he said
His grace would cover me
His blood will flow freely
It will provide the healin'
Come runnin' to the mercy seat
I'm runnin; to the mercy seat.

Are you livin' where hope has not been?
You're lost in the curse of a
Lifetime of sin;
Lovely illusions they never come true;

I know where there's a place
Of mercy for you.
He said that you could come into His
Presence without fear
Into this holy place
Where His presence hovers near.

Come runnin' come runnin'
Come runnin' to the mercy seat
Where Jesus is callin'
He said His grace would cover you.
His blood will flow freely,
It will provide the healin',

Come runnin' to the mercy seat.
I'm runnin' to the mercy seat.
He said that you could come into his presence
Without fear into the holy place
Where His mercy hovers near.

Deeper in Love - TSMSS

13 thoughts

Thanks to Amy for hosting Then Signs My Soul Saturday! Music has such a profound influence on so many of our lives...

Sadness can turn to happiness just by hearing the right words or melody...

Anger and strife can turn to forgiveness and peace...

Confused and unsure?

Music can sometimes calm the mind and spirit so that still small voice is heard more clearly...

Already happy and joyful?

Is there such a thing as being too jubilant?

The song I am sharing this week is a new one to me. While searching through new videos on Tangle, I came across this one and had to listen to it several times. The soothing music and beautiful lyrics instantly brought a calming to my spirit that was the perfect ending to a somewhat eventful week.

Two lines in this song were special because the first one voices a desire of my heart and the second one declares the conviction of my life...

How I long to be deeper in love...

Here in your presence forever satisfied...

Deeper In Love
There is a longing only You can fill
A raging tempest only You can still
My soul is thirsty Lord
To know You as I'm known
Drink from the river
That flows before your throne

Take me deeper
Deeper in love with You
Jesus hold me close in Your embrace
Take me deeper
Deeper than I've ever been before
I just want to love You more and more
How I long to be deeper in love

Sunrise to sunrise
I will seek Your face
Drawn by the Spirit
To the promise of Your grace
My heart has found in You
A hope that will abide
Here in Your presence
Forever satisfied
