God STOP - El-Shaddai

I got a letter from my wanderer this week and he asked if I could find the words to a certain old song that we used to sing in church. He did not know the name of it, and only remembered part of one line in the chorus. I thought I knew the name, but couldn't remember all the verses so I did what anyone does when they want to know something...I googled it. Well, I googled until I was red in the face and couldn't find a thing.

Many moons ago I used to play the piano and have a collection of several old hymn books (one was given to me by my Grandmother) and stacks of sheet music...waaay up in my attic. I felt certain I knew which book had this song, so I went searching and happily found it. I sent him a copy of the words and all was well.

Now stay with me...

On Saturdays during the month of March, I have been sharing some of My Granddaddy's favorite songs on the TSMSS meme. He passed away last summer at the age of 93 and his next birthday would have been on March 31st. He was a Christian and a preacher for 76 years. Granddaddy had told me some of his favorite songs in a video interview that was done the Christmas before he died. I remembered the titles he gave me and had already shared several.

Now there is no shortage of videos and mp3's available for songs from the last 30 years or so, but the selections grow smaller after the 1970's...especially with gospel songs. When I was choosing a song to dedicate this week, I couldn't find any media to share. That is not required or even essential, but I like to hear the melody of a song and not just read the words, if possible.

Anyway...I just couldn't seem to find the right song for this week, so I pulled up the transcript of the video. Right in the middle of a paragraph...between all the references to song titles with special memories...he made mention of a line in a song. It was the SAME SONG my wanderer had asked me to find him!

I cried!

God is SOOO GOOD!

Now I am crying again as I write this...

Sure, I had read the transcript before, but I did not remember that particular passage because Granddaddy did not specify the song's title. So when I READ those words from Granddaddy after FINDING them for my wanderer...I was overcome with God's mercy and assurance that He is in control of seemingly out of control situations.

Not having the media to this song suddenly did not matter one bit...

I truly Savored The Observable Presence of God this week!

El-Shaddai!!

This brought tears to my eyes too. Our God works in mysterious ways. Clearly, the Holy Spirit is speaking to your wanderer's heart. Praise God!
Please go to my blog, Karen. I'm giving you a Friendship Award, as you did to me.

I enjoyed your story. Those are such wonderful moments when you feel the Lord's care directly...and to be reminded that he is THERE.

The old hymns and songs have such feeling in them--truly written from the heart.
