Turn on the Light

My dad shared this devotional he received from a cousin:

Fear thou not; for I am with thee:

be not dismayed; for I am thy God:

I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;

yea, I will uphold thee

with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:10

One of the things I have discovered since Joanne has been diagnosed with Alzheimer is that she is afraid of the dark and tells me to turn on the light. When the light comes on her fears are gone in a moment.

Over the years, there have been times when I, like Joanne, have been afraid. That doesn't mean my fears were bigger; they were just different.

At any rate, when those fears are robbing me of peace I find myself echoing her words and saying to God in heaven, "Father, it is dark! Turn on the light."

Can I share with you the confidence I have that God is listening to my prayers and is by my side has always brought me almost immediate peace? It's quite possible you have a fear or two of your own. If you do, with faith, say those words, "Father, it is dark; please turn on the light." And give thanks that because of His Son's sacrifice and forgiveness, He will.

Dear heavenly Father, please take my hand and strengthen me in this dark world, so that I may live my life to Your glory. In Jesus' Name. Amen

Good morning and great post. Perfect love will cast out all fear. I had to study that scripture a few years back when faced with a health issue. I did not seek out scripture for healing but rather scripture for overcoming the fear. What a wonderful promise when HE tells us that HE will NEVER leave or forsake us..........

HIS love is perfect and in that Love is no fear.

This is one of my FAVORITE Scriptures. Powerful devotional dear one.

Karen, I'm praying for you and your family today. I want you to know how appreciative I am that the LORD has linked our hearts. I pray for God's complete provision in your family in Jesus Name.

I love you.
