I’ll Say Yes - TSMSS

When God asks something of you, do you shout an immediate
and emphatic “
YES, Lord”...or do you pause and think and
consider and procrastinate and finally utter an
okay, Lord”...

If you feel a nudge from the Spirit in your heart to...

DO...or
GO...or

SAY...

Is it met with a resounding “Yes, Lord!” or “Yes, Lord, but...”

I have been guilty of the YesButs...
Yes, Lord, but I need to do this other thing first...
Yesbut I don’t think they really want me to go there...
Yesbut I am so shy and don’t think I can really say that to them...
To anyone that shares this Yesbut disorder with me, I invite you to listen to the words of this simple yet powerful chorus that proclaims the words our God most desires to hear from His children...
I'll say yes Lord,
I'll say yes,
To your will Lord,
I'll say yes;
Where you lead me,
I will go.
I'll say yes Lord,
I'll say yes...

I have had the yesbut disease for years now.. Sometimes I think I am cured but then find that in the calm of my life it will resurface.. HE loves us and HE is patient.. I am thankful....

That was beautiful, Karen. I had to sign in to hear it, but I had my password close by.

I had to smile at your terminology "yetbut disorder".

I think I have it too.

For one thing, however, it is hard to know for sure what God wants us to do. But sometimes I DO know for sure and say, "yesbut".

I love the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Karen, I've heard them in person several times and they are awesome. Carol Cymbala does a wonderful job leading this group and God always gets the glory. There are no prima donnas; just people who sing well and love the Lord. And I want to get rid of "yesbut" and replace it with "yes" immediately.

Thank you Karen for adding this song.

Blessings,
Debbie

Amen, how we need to be those who are obedient to His will and depending on Him on every details of our lives. Nice song..

I do want to say, "Yes, Lord!" (with no buts). Thanks for sharing this. Have a blessed weekend in the Lord!

Karen, the song is beautifully and beautifully sung..thanks for sharing it. I have several of Cymbala's books, and really believe he and his wife are true servants of the Lord. They are an example of what can happen when people say "yes, Lord", instead of "yes, but". The "yes, but" disorder is sweeping the nation, starting with me...there isnt' a day that I don't talk myself out of doing something that I know the Lord would have me do, like visit the widow down the street, "but" I have so many other responsibilities. It isn't a matter of time...its a matter of "choice". Thanks for a wake-up post today.

God bless,
Mary

Blessings Karen...The YouTube had a beautiful intro to this beautiful surrender song with Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir! Awesome words both there and yours! There is no excuse yet we are more willing to seek an "out" then let Him or His will be done in our lives. As He leads us, may we go, do and say...let's say YES to the LORD without any hesitation or "butts" (either) when we resist, we are stubborn...may we no longer hold back from doing His will fully!

Thank you for this gentle reminder & encouragement & your precious visit! May you enJOY a wonderful TSMSS worship prep and time with Him!

Ooh, I need reminders of this. I definitely say "yes, but" too often. Thanks for sharing this song and message today.

I am a recovering "yesbut-ic"! I do slip, but it feels so good to live in the valley of "Yes, Lord!" that I find that my slips come less often.

That said, I must confess that I am "Yesbutting" today... I have to attend an event that I DO NOT want to go to, but I know that God wants me there. Please pray for me. As the time draws near to leave, I can feel my attitude growing more and more sour. I want to be a picture of God's love and grace tonight. Pray that I will get my butt to where it needs to be, and leave my yesbuts at home!

Sorry to use the "B" word, but it just worked so well with what I had to say!

Hugs,
Cheri

This reminds me of a song I sang in a college-aged singing group 20 plus years ago. "I'll say yes, Lord, yes to your will and to your way. I'll say yes, Lord, yes. I will trust you and obey. When your spirit speaks to me, with my whole heart I'll agree. And the answer will be yes, Lord, yes."

I love that song--and it's my heart's desire. Not that I'm always perfect in that, but thank God HIS grace brings me along even when I hesitate.

I could print this message off and hang it up! We've all been there Yes Lord! Yes but! and back to Yes Lord!

May we be a consistent and constant, Yes Lord! and then walk it out for His glory.

I love you sister.
