Oh Holy Night – TSMSS

This blessed old hymn, written in 1847, remains my all time favorite Christmas song. This version is sung by one of my favorite groups - Selah.

Oh holy night!
The stars are brightly shining
This is the night of the dear Savior's birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine
Oh night,
Oh night divine

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.

Christ is the Lord
Oh praise His name forever
His power, and glory evermore proclaim
His power, and glory evermore proclaim

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine
Oh holy night,
Oh night divine

This song always brings me to my knees, as I think of what a night that must have been for Mary, and Joseph, knowing that they would birth such a special newborn babe. What a Holy Night it must have been, to birth a child, who knew no sin...Yes, Oh what a Holy Night it would have been... thanks for your heart to share such a beautiful gift of song, sweet lady!

I posted on another blog how amazing it is to take the same song and see how each artist feels it in their soul, then shares it with their own spin. O Holy night is one of my favorites, and one of the best to see how God makes each of us an individual instrument in his Holy chorus!

Merry Christmas!

Blessings and a holy, merry Christmas
Karen to you & yours!!!

I was looking for this week's TSMSS and found out that I never commented here last week...how could that be?

Anyways, you have chosen a BEAUTIFUL song sung by a wonderful harmonious group Selah! I love "O Holy Night" & of course I love Selah! I posted this for Christmas Eve by someone else!

As you read through the words apart from listening or singing along in my case (can't help it), these words just impressed upon me, like I never had seen them before:

"Oh night divine Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease"

Quite impressive from 1847! Praise God...His power & glory evermore.
So glad that you shared this one & so sorry I missed blessing you last TSMSS! Hope you are enJOYing a wonderful & blessed Christmas!
