Thankful Thursday – A Gentle Landing

lantana

I love lantana...each little blossom looks like a mini bouquet...and it thrives well during these hot Georgia summers...

With these scorching summers, come scattered afternoon thunderstorms...

We had a rather strong storm earlier in the week with heavy winds and pounding hail...I came up from the dungeon to survey the damage outside...

From the front door everything looked fine...drenched certainly...but we had needed the rain...

As I peered out the back door at the flowers on the deck, the overturned geraniums on the table were pushed up against the railing...they would be battle scarred, but would survive...

However, the large pot of lantana that was hanging off the side of the railing...was not there...where in the world...

My eyes glanced downward to the deck floor...

My lantana was sitting there...upright...with no signs of damage...

I called my son to come see...

“It looks like someone just picked up the pot

and set it down on the deck.”

Well...I didn’t quite know what to think about that...

But then He whispered...

“That’s what I’m doing during the storms of your life...while the rain pounds...the lightning crackles...and the winds overturn everything around you...I hold on to you...pick you up...and gently place you upright on solid ground...you may not see Me...you may not feel Me...you may not even hear My voice...but I am here...I never leave...

BE MERCIFUL and gracious to me, O God,

be merciful and gracious to me,

for my soul takes refuge

and finds shelter and confidence in You;

yes, in the shadow of Your wings

will I take refuge and be confident

until calamities and destructive storms

are passed.

Psalm 57:1 AMP

Oh my! This was just wonderful! Totally on-time. The Lord knew I needed to "hear" (read) this tonight too! :o) I remember playing "Til the Storm Passes By" for my Granny to sing...and your post reminded me of that song. "Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by." Thank you so much! And I'm so glad that your BEAUTIFUL flowers are going to be okay. :) God is so good!
