Soothing the Savage Beast

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. ~Victor Hugo

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music” ~Aldous Huxley

You know the ones...

Your ear hears the first few bars and either your toe starts tapping...or your lips starts humming...

Low spirits rise higher

Troubled ones are calmed

A precious memory from days gone by scrolls by

or perhaps it seems as if your soul immediately enters into the presence of the Lord

Praise rises as the melody courses through your veins

Words burst forth to bring glory and honor to the Lamb of God

Does anyone not love music?

Different styles...contrasting rhythms...all types of lyrics...

Another wonderful gift from our Creator

Thank you, Lord!

For the Lord your God is living among you.
      He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

This song has been playing on my heartstrings all week, so maybe it is meant to bless someone besides me this weekend...

Karen - after having just completed a seven week study on the Psalms of Ascent, I have an even greater appreciation for music. Singing songs of praise and thanksgiving to our Lord not only is pleasing to Him, but uplifting to our spirits.

The song you selected is lovely.

Blessings,
Joan

Beautiful song. I'm so thankful for the Lamb of God who loved me so much that He died on Calvary that all who believe in Him shall have an eternal home and He bore stripes for my healing. Praise the Lamb of God.

Blessings Karen,

How very true the quotes and I couldn't agree more with what you wrote so beautifully to go with the
the song "playing on your heartstrings"!

I love this SCRIPTURE also from Zephaniah!

You already know that I'm thanking God for music and it could not be expressed better than you've written this! His Presence comes alive in music that honors Him!

Thanks Karen... and hope that you don't mind (but I had a linking up urge today and went around linking everyone that fit to SOS, cuz I was lonely. Hope you don't mind me linking yours, too.)SOS also means HELP so I guess I was calling out for HELP... not really!

Praise the precious Lamb of God forever and ever!
Peggy
